Elijah Hollands speaks out following Carlton delisting

Elijah Hollands has spoken publicly for the first time since being delisted by the Carlton Football Club following a mental health episode during a Round 6 match against Collingwood in April.

During the game, Hollands exhibited erratic behavior and was subsequently admitted to the hospital. Following an investigation by the employment watchdog WorkSafe, Carlton was fined $75,000 for allowing the player to compete while in that condition.

In a statement shared on social media, Hollands expressed that while football has been a central part of his life and family legacy, he is now prioritizing his personal well-being. He noted, “I love this game, but I have come to realise that there are things in my life that are far more important than footy right now, and they’re the things I will now prioritise.”
