Elijah Wood Returns as Frodo in “The Hunt for Gollum” Film

Elijah Wood described his return to Middle‑earth in the upcoming film The Hunt for Gollum as “a kind of family reunion,” noting that the set feels like old friends gathering rather than a simple job. He added that while his cameo as Frodo will appear, the part is “relatively small” because the story will focus on the hunt for Gollum, set between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.

The production brings back several members of Peter Jackson’s original crew, and Wood said filming will again take place in New Zealand. Fans are excited by the appearance of a beloved face, even if his screen time will be limited, and the film promises to explore a peripheral episode from Tolkien’s legendarium centered on locating Gollum before Sauron does.
