In his third attempt he jumped 8.66 m again, this time with legal wind (+1.0 m/s), which officially tied the national record. He finished the competition with a best legal jump of 8.64 m, confirming his strong form ahead of the European Championships in Birmingham. The former record holder, Loui Tsatouma, publicly congratulated Tendoğlu, saying he deserved the achievement and could go even further.

The performance placed Tendoğlu among the world’s best for the season, having already logged an 8.61 m jump at the Diamond League in Monaco. Despite the historic jump, he expressed disappointment, stating he had hoped to reach 8.70 m and felt he missed a final opportunity.
