Eliseo Sartor, legendary cross-country skiing coach, dies at 91

Eliseo Sartor, a prominent figure in Italian cross-country skiing, has passed away at the age of 91. He died at the San Daniele hospital following a delicate surgical procedure.

Sartor was a highly respected coach and educator, known for training generations of athletes. Most notably, he guided Olympic champions Silvio Fauner and Pietro Piller Cottrer to international success. In 1980, he was among the founders of the Associazione sportiva Camosci in Sappada, an organization he remained deeply connected to throughout his life.

His death has drawn widespread condolences from the national skiing community, with many remembering him not only for his technical expertise but also for his commitment to teaching values such as sacrifice, respect, and discipline to young athletes.
