Elite discus throwers to compete in Vilnius

Elite discus throwers are set to compete in Vilnius on September 12 at the Vingio Park Stadium. The event features world record holder Mykolas Alekna, Paris Olympic champion Roje Stona, and two-time European champion Kristjan Čehas.

Organizers from the ‘Jusis training’ club noted that the competition is expected to be highly intense, following recent high-stakes matchups between these athletes at the European Championships and the Olympics. Virgilijus Alekna expressed optimism that the competition could potentially break a stadium record that has stood for over 20 years.

The field will also include Martynas Alekna, Shaquille Emanuelson, and Ruben Rolvinik. According to organizer Mantas Jusis, the international stars accepted the invitation to participate in Lithuania, a nation with a strong reputation for discus throwing, despite the high honorariums typically required for such athletes.
