Eliza Capai’s ‘A Fabulosa Máquina do Tempo’ Opens in Brazil’s Cinemas
The documentary directed by Eliza Capai will debut in Brazilian theaters on July 30 2026, rolling out across major cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Salvador, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Maceió, Vitória, Goiânia, Poços de Caldas, Cuiabá, João Pessoa, Recife and Afogados da Ingazeira (PE). The release is accompanied by an interactive educational game called “A Fabulosa Jornada Imaginativa,” created by Joco in partnership with Instituto Toriba, which invites participants to explore how present choices shape future dreams.
The film follows a group of girls in Guaribas, Piauí, capturing their play‑acting of adult roles to examine gender expectations and the legacy of social programs such as Bolsa Família. It premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and has collected several awards, including Best Photography at the Vitória Film Festival, the Calunga Trophy at Cine PE, and honors at the Ecofalante and other Brazilian festivals. The project is part of the “Trilogia da Memória” campaign organized by distributor Descoloniza Filmes.
