Eliza Zaman set to win reserved women's seat unopposed
Eliza Zaman, the BNP-nominated candidate, has had her nomination papers declared valid for the by-election to the reserved women's seat in the 13th Parliament. Returning Officer and Election Commission Joint Secretary Moin Uddin Khan confirmed the validity of her application following the scrutiny process.
As the sole candidate, Zaman is expected to be declared elected unopposed once the deadline for candidate withdrawal passes. The vacancy was created following the resignation of Ferdousi Ahmed Mishti on October 1, amid allegations of her involvement in an attack, looting, and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP Center in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Zaman holds several positions within the BNP, including member of the Central Executive Committee and joint convener of the Pirojpur District BNP. The official notification of her election will be issued after the legal processes and the withdrawal period, which ends on November 1.
