Elizabeth Ochoa detained for allegedly using Diosdado Cabello’s name to evade police

Elizabeth Ochoa, a lawyer known on social media as ‘La tapa del frasco’, has been detained in Venezuela following a viral video in which she allegedly attempted to use the name of Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace Diosdado Cabello to evade police authority.

During a confrontation with the Bolivarian National Police, Ochoa claimed she would not face legal consequences as long as Cabello remained in office. In response, Cabello confirmed her arrest during his television program, ‘Con el Mazo Dando’, stating that he does not know her and that her actions constitute an attempt to ‘chapear’ (use his name for influence).

Ochoa faces charges including influence peddling, contempt of a public official, and the misuse of a name. She was reportedly apprehended at her residence in the early hours of Wednesday morning and remains under the jurisdiction of the Public Ministry. Cabello has called on potential victims of her alleged misconduct to file formal complaints.
