Željko Mitrović addresses Pink TV rumors and announces mass layoffs

Željko Mitrović, owner of Pink Media Group, has addressed rumors regarding the potential closure of Pink TV. During a television appearance alongside former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Mitrović clarified that the television program is distinct from its brand name, stating, “It is just a brand, television is a program, not its trademark. It is not that easy.” He did not confirm any plans to cease broadcasting.

This commentary follows Mitrović’s announcement of significant workforce reductions across his business empire. He recently disbanded the ensembles of Teatar Odeon, resulting in 150 job losses. Mitrović stated that he expects to lay off approximately 1,000 employees across roughly ten companies within his system that have not yet reached profitability.

Financial records indicate that while Pink Media Group reported a net profit of nearly 5.5 million euros last year, other ventures, such as Teatar Odeon, have faced significant financial challenges. The theater, which opened in September 2024, reportedly struggled with high operating costs relative to its revenue.
