Željko Mitrović announces mass layoffs at Pink Media Group

Željko Mitrović, owner of Pink Media Group, has announced a major restructuring plan involving the layoff of approximately 1,000 employees across roughly ten companies within his business conglomerate. Mitrović stated on social media that these measures are necessary to stabilize unprofitable parts of his system that have not yet reached financial sustainability.

The first wave of layoffs has already impacted the cultural sector, resulting in the dissolution of all ensembles at the Odeon Theater in Belgrade. This move leaves 150 employees without jobs. The Odeon Theater, which Mitrović purchased and renovated in 2022, had been operating for approximately two years before its closure. Financial reports indicated the theater faced significant losses, with 2024 revenues of 15.2 million dinars against expenses of 138.6 million dinars.

Mitrović, a prominent media mogul with close ties to the Serbian political establishment, described the decision as one of the most difficult days of his life. The layoffs come following recent political shifts in Serbia. While some Pink Media Group staff, such as journalist Sanja Marinković, have confirmed they remain employed, the broader restructuring continues to affect various branches of the media empire.
