Željko Obradović appointed head coach of Serbian athletics

The Serbian Athletics Federation (SAS) has announced a leadership change within its technical management. Željko Obradović has been officially appointed as the head coach for all national representative categories of Serbia.

Edin Zuković, who has served as the head coach since September 20, 2018, will transition to the role of sports director. During Zuković’s tenure, Serbian athletics achieved significant success, including 10 European medals and five senior world medals, with 2023 marking a record year with 44 international medals across all age categories.

Obradović, who has previously been performing head coach duties during Zuković’s recent absence, will be responsible for coordinating technical work, collaborating with coaches and clubs, and selecting athletes for domestic and international competitions. The leadership team stated that their primary focus will be supporting athletes for major upcoming events, including the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade and the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
