Željko Obradović Rumored to Return as Panathinaikos Head Coach

Greek media have reported that former Serbian coach Željko Obradović may be reinstated as head coach of Panathinaikos, the Greek basketball powerhouse. Journalist Vasilis Vergis said he “has a feeling that Obradović’s return is approaching,” after the club abruptly ended its previous partnership with him.

Panathinaikos, which enjoyed seven EuroLeague titles under Obradović between 1999 and 2012, is reportedly evaluating him as a replacement for current coach Erginas Ataman, whose future is uncertain after an under‑performing season. The potential hiring would reunite the club with the coach who led them to 11 of 12 domestic trophies and multiple national cups.
