Željko Tomašević, OFK Grbalj coach, dies suddenly at 48

Montenegrin football community is mourning the sudden death of 48-year-old football coach Željko Tomašević. Tomašević, who served as the head coach for OFK Grbalj, passed away shortly after being active on the field, having analyzed his team's performance just two days prior to his death.

Tomašević joined OFK Grbalj this summer with the objective of returning the club to the top tier of Montenegrin football. His career was marked by significant milestones, including becoming the youngest coach in Montenegrin football in 2008 at age 29 when he took over Iskra.

His professional experience extended internationally, with coaching roles in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and a four-year tenure in Qatar as the B team coach for Al Ahli. He held a UEFA Pro license and had completed training in Malmö, Sweden. Tomašević had returned to Montenegro last year after six years abroad, partly to be closer to his daughter, Maša Tomašević, a Montenegrin national team player playing for Inter.
