Elke Heidenreich cancels Cologne appearance due to injury

German author and literary critic Elke Heidenreich has canceled a scheduled appearance at the Kölner Philharmonie on October 23 due to an injury. The 83-year-old writer suffered a torn tendon in her left foot after tripping, necessitating surgery scheduled for Monday, October 19.

The canceled event, titled ‘Neulich im Himmel’, was intended to be a joint program with pianist Marc-Aurel Floros. Organizers have stated that ticket holders can return their tickets to the original points of purchase for a refund. A makeup date has not yet been determined.

Despite the injury, Heidenreich plans to proceed with a reading at the lit. Cologne Spezial at the WDR Funkhaus on October 18, one day prior to her surgery. This event will feature her new book, ‘Ach, eine Fanfare! – Liebesbekenntnisse zu Schriftstellern’.
