Elkins City Council Approves $1.2 Million FY 2027 Budget Revision
The Elkins City Council voted on July 23, 2026 to amend the fiscal year 2027 budget, allocating an additional $531,594 from surplus funds left unspent in FY 2026. Together with a previously estimated $686,183 year‑end carryover, the city will carry forward $1,217,777 to the new budget.
The revision funds health‑insurance cost increases for the Treasurer’s Office and Custodial Services, adds $16,000 for a part‑time court clerk in the Police Judge’s Office, and earmarks $50,000 for city‑hall capital outlay, contracted services, dues and subscriptions. The remaining $445,594 is moved to the city’s contingency fund for emergencies. Final approval awaits the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office.
