Ellen Burstyn expresses fatigue over The Exorcist franchise
Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn has expressed her desire to move away from The Exorcist franchise, stating, “Isn’t there enough already of the Exorcist thing? It’s enough already.”
Burstyn, who famously portrayed Chris MacNeil in the 1973 original, commented on the upcoming film The Exorcist: Martyrs, directed by Mike Flanagan and starring Scarlett Johansson. While she recently returned to the role in 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer, she indicated a preference for new creative challenges.
Regarding her involvement in the 2023 sequel, Burstyn revealed she initially declined multiple offers before accepting a deal where her compensation included funding a scholarship program for talented students at Pace University. At 93, the actress is currently focusing on other projects, including a personal poetry collection and audiobook.
