Ellen Burstyn receives Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at Venice Film Festival

At 93 years old, Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn was honored with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. The award, presented by Maggie Gyllenhaal, recognizes Burstyn’s extensive career spanning over six decades, including iconic roles in ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore’.

Despite the lifetime achievement honor, Burstyn remains actively engaged in her craft. She arrived at the festival with two new projects: ‘Place to Be’, directed by Kornél Mundruczó and starring alongside Taika Waititi, and the short film ‘Flesh Impact’, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

During a press conference, Burstyn reflected on her longevity in the industry, noting that she once believed her career would end before she turned 40. She expressed deep gratitude for her continued ability to work and take on new, challenging roles.
