Ellen DeGeneres expresses desire for TV comeback in UK interview

Ellen DeGeneres, 68, has made her first major public appearance since the conclusion of her daily talk show in 2022, appearing on the British program ‘The Graham Norton Show’. During the interview, DeGeneres expressed a longing for her television career, stating, “I’ve nothing really going on and I really miss being on TV.” She noted missing the creative process, including collaborating with writers and the energy of a live audience.

DeGeneres, who currently resides in the Cotswolds with her wife Portia de Rossi, also reflected on her 1990s sitcom ‘Ellen’. She highlighted the significance of her character being one of the first openly gay leads on American television, noting that the reception in London felt like an honor compared to the reactions she faced in the United States.

The appearance has met with mixed reactions. While DeGeneres discussed her history and potential interest in British television, some viewers criticized the interview as “awkward,” questioning the purpose of the appearance since she was not promoting a specific new project.
