Ellie Carpenter named to PFA WSL Team of the Year

Matildas and Chelsea defender Ellie Carpenter has been named to the PFA Women’s Super League Team of the Year following a successful debut season in England. The 26-year-old made 19 appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists, while helping Chelsea secure the 2025-26 Women’s League Cup.

Despite her international success, Carpenter has expressed disappointment regarding the current state of the Australian A-League. She noted that while she would like to finish her career in Australia, the league requires significantly more investment in players, facilities, and development to become attractive to top international talent. She emphasized that for Matildas players to return home, the league must match the growth and financial investment seen in European and American domestic leagues.
