Manchester City sign Elliot Anderson for record £116 million fee
Manchester City have completed the signing of 23‑year‑old English midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a reported fee of up to £116 million (about $153 million). The payment makes Anderson the most expensive British player in football history and the biggest transfer ever for City, surpassing the previous club record of £100 million for Jack Grealish. Anderson, who started all 38 Premier League matches for Forest last season and is a regular in England’s World Cup squad, underwent his medical in Kansas while the tournament is under way. The clubs said the formalities will be finalised after the World Cup and Anderson will join the City squad under new manager Enzo Maresca. Nottingham Forest welcomed the cash influx, which will help balance their finances and fund further signings.
