Elliott Management denies allegations of multi-ownership ties between Lille and Milan

L'Équipe has published an investigation into alleged ties between the French football club Lille and AC Milan during the period between 2020 and 2022, when the American investment fund Elliott Management owned Milan.

The report claims that intercepted communications and emails suggest Elliott may have exercised simultaneous management over both clubs, which would violate UEFA regulations regarding multi-ownership. The investigation alleges that these rules were bypassed using warrants, veto rights, and holding companies located in Luxembourg and Delaware.

Elliott Management has issued a firm denial, stating that the allegations are baseless. The fund noted that Italian prosecutors had already reviewed the relevant materials and recommended that the proceedings be closed without charges. Additionally, Elliott emphasized that UEFA has previously investigated the matter and determined that the fund exerts no control or decisive influence over Lille, acting only as a financier.
