Elliott Rodriguez and Hakeem Jeffries campaign in Florida's District 27

In South Florida’s House District 27, Democratic challenger Elliott Rodriguez held a campaign stop in Pinecrest, joined by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The race features incumbent Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, with recent polling suggesting Rodriguez is within striking distance. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has designated this seat as a priority under its ‘Red to Blue’ initiative.

During the campaign, Salazar highlighted her legislative record regarding affordable housing for seniors and tax policies. Rodriguez focused his platform on economic affordability and immigration enforcement reform, criticizing current economic and immigration policies.

Separately, the scheduled visit of both Salazar and Rodriguez to a local school was canceled by the administration. Students expressed frustration over the decision, noting that the cancellation missed an opportunity for civil discourse and exposure to opposing political perspectives.
