Ellisha Blackburn runs for Cowichan Valley School District board

Ellisha Blackburn has announced her candidacy for the Cowichan Valley School District board. Drawing on 13 years of experience as a parent within the district, Blackburn aims to create a more inclusive, transparent, and responsive school system.

Her platform focuses on three primary pillars: increasing ongoing parent and community engagement through regular public participation and accessible communication; providing diverse learning options and pathways to retain students within the public system; and advancing reconciliation by integrating Hul’q’umi’num’ teachings and engagement with Indigenous Elders into district programming.

Blackburn has previously served on the boards of Success by 6 and Arcadian Early Learning, and has held leadership roles in PAC, DPAC, and refugee sponsorship groups.
