Ellsworth Air Force Base upgrades security for B-21 Raider deployment

The United States Air Force is implementing a comprehensive security overhaul at Ellsworth Air Force Base to prepare for the deployment of the B-21 Raider, a sixth-generation stealth bomber. The modernization efforts include upgrading the 28th Security Forces Squadron through advanced training and the integration of sophisticated surveillance tools.

To counter modern threats, the base is adopting advanced anti-drone protocols that combine human tactical responses with automated security measures, such as thermal imaging and perimeter sensors. These upgrades are designed to protect the highly secretive aircraft and ensure compliance with nuclear security standards, as the B-21 is a dual-capable platform designed for both conventional and nuclear missions.

The B-21 Raider is engineered to penetrate sophisticated anti-access/area denial (A2/AD) environments. Its stealth architecture and electronic warfare capabilities are specifically intended to neutralize mobile air defense systems in contested regions, such as the Taiwan Strait, by reaching targets that conventional aircraft cannot access.
