The future of Cristiano Ronaldo with the Portuguese national team remains highly uncertain following a conflict with head coach Jorge Jesus. The dispute escalated during the UEFA Nations League after Ronaldo was left on the bench during a 2-1 victory over Norway, despite having warmed up for the match. Speaking at a book launch in Lisbon, Ronaldo's sister, Elma Aveiro, expressed pessimism regarding his return, stating, “It’s more likely a no than a yes.” She described the situation as a “betrayal” and noted that both the player and the coach have been hurt by the incident. Aveiro also criticized the Portuguese public, suggesting they have forgotten Ronaldo's past achievements for the national team.

While Ronaldo released a statement expressing his availability for future call-ups, the rift between him and Jesus remains unresolved. Portuguese midfielder Vitinha has urged the player to return and settle the dispute, describing the recent international break as “chaotic.”
