Italian firms expand AI use while warning of governance risks

The new partners enable cameras to function as intelligent sensors that support decision‑making in critical infrastructure, road networks, climate resilience and smart‑city projects.

At the same time, Italian companies are confronting the challenges of rapid AI adoption within enterprises. Uncoordinated use of generative‑AI tools by employees – termed “shadow AI” – raises concerns over data leakage, compliance breaches and new attack surfaces. Experts stress the need for governance frameworks that monitor AI prompts, control data flows and integrate real‑time security solutions to balance innovation with oversight.
