Elmer Cáceres Llica rejects supporting Jenry Huisa in Arequipa runoff

Former Arequipa regional governor and Alianza para el Progreso candidate Elmer Cáceres Llica has categorically denied claims that he will support Jenry Huisa Calapuja or Alfredo Zegarra in the upcoming regional runoff election.

Cáceres Llica explicitly demanded that Huisa, the Ahora Nación candidate, stop using his name and image in campaign activities. He justified his refusal to endorse Huisa by citing active fiscal investigations and alleged corruption involving Huisa’s management of the Majes district. Cáceres Llica further alleged rumors of a criminal organization intended to embezzle municipal funds in El Pedregal, claiming the structure is allegedly led by Huisa’s father.

Reflecting on his own electoral performance, Cáceres Llica attributed his loss to overconfidence and low support in the Arequipa province. He noted that running under the Alianza para el Progreso banner limited his opportunities but confirmed he will remain active in local and regional politics.
