ELN claims responsibility for explosive attack in Popayán

The National Urban War Front of the ELN has claimed responsibility for an explosive attack against a police patrol in the Santa Mónica neighborhood of Popayán, Cauca. The incident, which occurred on October 7 around 10:00 AM, resulted in injuries to two police officers and three civilians.

The injured officers were reported to be out of danger with minor injuries, according to Reinel Polanía, the former Secretary of Government of Popayán. The explosion also caused damage to windows in nearby homes and businesses. Authorities have offered a reward of up to $20 million for information leading to the identification and capture of those responsible.
