ELN explosive attacks reported in Arauca and Chocó

The Colombian National Army has reported two separate incidents involving explosive devices attributed to the National Liberation Army (ELN).

In the Arauca department, a professional soldier, Daniel Felipe Pinzón Serrano, was wounded by shrapnel during an attack in the rural sector of Puente Quinay, Arauquita. Military authorities stated that explosives were launched from a moving vehicle during an operational mission conducted by the 59th Infantry Battalion. The soldier was transported to San Vicente hospital for specialized medical treatment. The attack has been attributed to the Martha Elena Barón commission of the ELN.

In the Chocó department, troops from the 12th Infantry Battalion successfully conducted a controlled destruction of an improvised explosive device found in the El Siete sector on the Medellín-Quibdó highway. According to military reports, the device was placed as a decoy, accompanied by a flag representing the ELN's Western War Front, intended to lure security forces into an ambush. The incident caused a temporary interruption of traffic for passenger and cargo vehicles on the vital corridor connecting Antioquia and Chocó.
