Eloisa Coiro qualifies for 800m final at Ultimate Championship

Italian middle-distance runner Eloisa Coiro has qualified for the 800-meter final at the Ultimate Championship 2026 in Budapest. During the first semifinal heat, Coiro finished fourth with a time of 1:58.48 after a tactical race.

The race was marked by a collision involving Coiro and Swiss athlete Veronica Vancardo. While attempting to find space for an overtake on the final straight, Coiro bumped Vancardo, causing the Swiss runner to fall. Following a review, the jury decided to grant Coiro advancement to the final, while Vancardo was reinstated as the ninth finalist due to the physical impact of the incident.

In the second semifinal heat, seasonal world leader Audrey Werro and Dutch runner Femke Broeders-Bol engaged in a tactical duel, finishing with times of 1:59.05 and 1:59.19, respectively. Meanwhile, Keely Hodgkinson led the first heat with a time of 1:57.57.
