Eloizo Gomes Afonso Durães expands social initiative in Brazil

Eloizo Gomes Afonso Durães has expanded a local technology project into a broad social initiative through the Fundação Gentil Afonso Durães. What began in 2003 as computer classes for youth in the Jaguaré district of São Paulo evolved after community feedback revealed broader needs.

To address these needs, the foundation integrated school tutoring, cultural activities such as choir and theater, and practical assistance. This assistance includes free transportation, meal distribution, and food baskets to help families overcome socioeconomic barriers to participation. Since 2005, the organization has expanded its reach to other locations, including São Luís, João Pessoa, and Recife.
