Elon Musk announces massive AI cluster and Grok training plans

Elon Musk has announced that xAI has developed what is claimed to be the world’s largest AI training cluster. Musk indicated plans to expand this infrastructure by approximately tenfold next year to support more complex models and accelerate research in autonomous systems and space exploration.

In a related initiative, Musk informed SpaceX employees that the company intends to train its Grok AI model using the institutional knowledge of the SpaceX workforce. Musk described employees as the “parents of the AI,” stating that Grok would inherit their “thoughts and ideas and beliefs.”

This integration of aerospace engineering expertise into xAI’s large language model aims to create a specialized knowledge base. Musk projected that AI-generated revenue at SpaceX could surpass revenue from traditional rocket and satellite products by September 2026. However, the plan faces potential regulatory complexities regarding International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) due to the sensitive nature of SpaceX’s technical data.
