Elon Musk becomes largest 2026 midterm donor with $366 million in contributions
Elon Musk has emerged as the largest known donor for the 2026 midterm elections, contributing more than $276 million to Republican political organizations since July. His total federal political contributions for the 2025-2026 election cycle have reached approximately $366 million, surpassing his spending during the 2024 presidential race.
Musk’s financial support includes $158 million directed to the Senate Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates. He has also contributed over $76 million to America PAC, an organization he established to manage voter mobilization and targeting efforts. Other significant donations include $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC.
Through America PAC, Musk has funded advertising campaigns on platforms like Meta to influence voters in competitive districts. These advertisements have targeted Democratic figures, including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and addressed social issues such as transgender rights and taxation. Some campaigns have utilized imagery and messaging designed to motivate right-leaning voters against perceived radical policies.
