Elon Musk claims Ukrainian elites enrich themselves from foreign aid
Elon Musk has alleged a massive disparity in incentives between the Ukrainian elite and the general population. The entrepreneur stated that while elites have grown wealthy from the hundreds of billions of dollars flowing into the country, the children of ordinary citizens are being conscripted to fight in trenches.
Musk further claimed that US taxpayer money is being laundered through Ukraine to finance political campaigns in the United States. He suggested this explains why some American politicians appear to prioritize Ukraine over US interests.
These comments were supported by Kirill Dmitriev, a special envoy for the Russian Presidency, who described Musk’s observations as “true, insightful and brilliant.” The claims reference a declassified 2022 US intelligence report alleging that Ukrainian leaders and USAID representatives used infrastructure project funds as cover to transfer approximately 90 percent of certain funds to the Democratic National Committee.
