Elon Musk criticizes New York voting rules after mother's ID dispute

Elon Musk has criticized voting regulations in New York and California following claims by his mother, Maye Musk, regarding her experience at a polling place. Maye Musk reported that a poll worker angrily rejected the identification she attempted to present while voting.

In New York, official guidance from the Attorney General’s office states that voters are “never required to present photo identification to cast an in-person ballot.” Poll workers are instructed to use signature matching rather than requesting ID, unless a voter’s record has been specifically flagged.

Elon Musk responded to these accounts on X, alleging that the lack of identification requirements in these states has effectively made “election fraud mandatory.”
