Elon Musk documentary trailer released amid controversy

A trailer has been released for ‘Musk’, a nearly four-hour documentary directed by Alex Gibney that examines the life and influence of Elon Musk. The film, scheduled for a US theatrical release on October 9 via Bleecker Street, explores various aspects of Musk’s career, including his leadership at Tesla and SpaceX, his acquisition of X (formerly Twitter), and his involvement in US politics through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The documentary addresses several controversies, such as allegations regarding Tesla’s autonomous driving technology, Musk’s Mars colonization ambitions, and potential conflicts of interest during his time in Washington D.C. It also touches on theories regarding Starlink’s role in the 2024 election.

Elon Musk has reacted sharply to the project, criticizing Gibney’s integrity and describing the film as a ‘hit piece’. Meanwhile, the distributor has faced challenges in marketing the film, as major social media platforms including Meta, YouTube, and TikTok have reportedly declined to run promotional advertisements, citing policies related to political content.
