Elon Musk donates $1.5 million to repeal Alaska voting measures

Elon Musk has donated $1.5 million to the Aurora Action Network, a political action committee working to repeal Alaska's current voting system. The funding supports Ballot Measure 2, which will appear on the November ballot.

If passed, Ballot Measure 2 would repeal the ranked-choice voting method, open primaries, and certain campaign finance laws originally adopted by Alaska voters in 2020. The measure would revert the state to a closed partisan primary system and a pick-one general election format.

Musk's contribution represents a significant portion of the repeal campaign's current fundraising. Supporters of the measure expressed gratitude for the interest shown by industry leaders, while opponents noted that existing campaign finance laws allow voters to track such large donations.
