Elon Musk donates over $200 million to U.S. political causes

Elon Musk has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into American elections to support Republican efforts to maintain control of Congress. According to Federal Election Commission filings, Musk donated over $200 million in the quarter ending September 30.

A significant portion of these funds, totaling $158 million, was directed to the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), a Super PAC that supports Republican candidates in competitive Senate races. This represents one of the largest single political donations in U.S. history.

Musk’s financial involvement also includes $290 million aimed at supporting Donald Trump and other Republican candidates during the 2024 election cycle. These contributions come ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, where Republicans face potential losses of their majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
