Elon Musk spends $366 million to support Republican Party in US midterms

Elon Musk has emerged as the largest individual donor for the 2026 US midterm elections, having spent approximately $366 million to support Republican candidates and organizations. Since July, Musk has contributed at least $276 million to various political groups.

Key allocations of these funds include $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund to help Republicans maintain control of the Senate, and $76 million to his own America PAC, which focuses on voter mobilization across seven key states. Other significant donations include $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, $10 million to the Lone Star Liberty PAC (supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton), and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

While Republicans view this spending as a vital resource for the upcoming election cycle, Democrats have criticized the massive influx of wealth, with Senator Bernie Sanders calling for an end to the influence of such oligarchy. Some lawmakers have also raised concerns that these donations may be intended to influence investigations into Musk's business dealings and government contracts.
