UBS Group posts $2.8 bn Q2 profit and launches $3 bn share‑buyback

UBS Group AG announced its second‑quarter 2026 results, reporting a net profit of $2.8 billion, above analyst forecasts. Underlying pretax profit rose 45 % year‑on‑year to CHF 3.9 billion and total revenues reached between $13.3 billion and $13.7 billion, driven by strong performance in investment banking, global wealth management and global markets. The bank’s CET1 capital ratio stood at 14.4 % at quarter‑end.

The earnings beat was accompanied by the launch of a new $3 billion share‑repurchase programme, with at least $1 billion scheduled for the next three months, subject to capital‑rule approval. UBS also highlighted the continued integration of former rival Credit Swiss, noting that 90 % of planned synergies have been realised and gross cost savings of $12.6 billion have been booked. Global Wealth Management attracted $36 billion of net new assets during the quarter.

One report noted that UBS missed its earnings‑per‑share estimate, posting $0.87 EPS versus the consensus $0.90. Overall, the results underscore UBS’s strong profit growth, progress on its integration agenda and a generous capital return to shareholders.
