Elon Musk leads record Republican campaign spending in US elections

Record-breaking amounts of external funding from corporations and wealthy individuals are being used to influence the United States elections. More than 2.3 billion dollars have been disbursed to date to influence electoral results.

Republican donors account for 64.5% of these funds, compared to 24.7% from donors associated with Democrats. Elon Musk is leading the effort to maintain Republican control of Congress, having spent 369 million dollars of his own money, a figure described as unprecedented for a single electoral cycle.

This surge in spending comes amid predictions from outlets like Fox News regarding a potential Democratic takeover of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Musk, whose companies Tesla and SpaceX have reportedly received 38 billion dollars in government contracts, loans, and subsidies, has significantly increased his political involvement.
