Elon Musk praises Xi Jinping and Tesla Shanghai factory
In a series of interviews with China's CCTV, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk praised Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing him as a ‘great leader’ and noting that China has experienced ‘immense prosperity’ under his leadership. Musk highlighted the visible progress in China's infrastructure and the rising prosperity of its citizens.
Musk also commended the Tesla team at the Shanghai Gigafactory, calling the facility a ‘gem’ and describing the local workforce as exceptionally talented, hardworking, and reliable. He encouraged global travelers to visit cities like Shanghai, Beijing, and Xi'an to experience the country's development.
Regarding technology, Musk predicted that China could bridge its AI computing power gap within two to three years through advancements in lithography and chip manufacturing. He also shared ambitious long-term forecasts for robotics, predicting that the global population of humanoid robots could reach 1 billion in 10 years, 10 billion in 15 years, and 100 billion in 20 years.
These comments come ahead of a scheduled meeting between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes a White House state dinner in honor of the Chinese leader.
