Elon Musk predicts AI abundance and universal income

Elon Musk has predicted that within approximately ten years, the advancement of artificial intelligence and robotics will create such abundance of goods and services that money may lose its current relevance.

To address potential mass unemployment caused by automation, Musk has proposed a “high universal income” delivered via government checks. This model suggests that as machines take over the majority of labor, the state would provide direct income to the population to compensate for lost jobs.

These projections come despite Musk’s recent role in the United States government, where he led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Donald Trump, an initiative focused on cutting federal spending and reducing the size of the government bureaucracy.
