Elon Musk warns U.S. faces bankruptcy without AI and robotics

Elon Musk has issued a warning regarding the United States' national debt, which has recently surpassed the $40 trillion threshold. During an appearance on the ‘Dwarkesh Podcast’, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO argued that the U.S. could face financial collapse unless there is a dramatic increase in economic productivity driven by artificial intelligence, robotics, and mass automation.

Musk highlighted the escalating costs of servicing the national debt, noting that interest payments alone have exceeded $1 trillion annually, surpassing the total U.S. military budget. He asserted that traditional economic measures will be insufficient to address the crisis and that only a technological revolution can generate the growth necessary to manage these financial obligations.

Financial experts and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget have also raised concerns about rising debt levels. Projections suggest that increased defense spending and interest costs could significantly drive up the national debt in the coming years.
