Elon Musk's America PAC to spend up to $120 million in Maine Senate race

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has authorized his America PAC to invest between $100 million and $120 million in a voter‑turnout operation aimed at Republican‑leaning voters in Maine. The effort will use door‑knocking, digital advertising and direct mail and is part of a multistate strategy that also targets Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio and possibly North Carolina and Texas.

The spending could bolster incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins, who entered the 2024 race with a sizable cash lead, while Democratic challenger Troy Jackson has raised just over $3 million since July. The Senate Leadership Fund, another Republican super PAC, has already pledged more than $42 million to the Maine contest. Collins’ campaign has publicly denied any coordination with Musk’s group.

Musk’s involvement marks a rare direct financial push by a billionaire into a single Senate race, drawing attention to the growing role of outside money in U.S. elections.
