Elon Musk's SpaceX targets $740 bn satellite mobile market with Starlink
SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is developing a satellite‑based mobile service dubbed “Starlink Mobile.” The venture aims to let ordinary smartphones connect directly to the Starlink constellation for voice, text and data, tapping an estimated $740 billion global market. Analysts note the existing Starlink internet service already has more than 12 million users and operates with profit margins of 63‑65 %, which could fund Musk’s broader space ambitions.
In Brazil, prospective users of Starlink face practical and legal hurdles when installing the required antenna in multi‑unit buildings. Condominium rules may forbid exterior modifications that alter a façade, and common roof areas cannot be claimed by individual owners without explicit approval. Experts advise that any installation should be approved by the condo assembly to avoid disputes and ensure safety compliance.
