Elon Musk's Grokipedia AI Encyclopedia Stagnates with No Updates Since April

Elon Musk’s xAI launched the AI‑generated encyclopedia Grokipedia in October 2025 as a claimed alternative to Wikipedia. The platform debuted with about 885,000 articles (v0.1) and expanded to over 6 million entries by November 2025 (v0.2).

A Lawfare investigation found that no article on Grokipedia has been edited since 24 April 2026. The site’s live‑tracking page now displays “No live edits available right now.” The audit examined 34,519 pages that together held 225,496 user‑submitted edit suggestions; none of those suggestions were marked accepted or rejected in the preceding three months. Notable omissions include the SpaceX IPO entry, which remains unchanged despite the company’s June 2026 public offering.

Users on Reddit and X have raised concerns that the project may be effectively abandoned. xAI has not responded to requests for comment, and Musk’s own posts about Grokipedia stopped in February 2026. The stagnation calls into question the viability of an AI‑only encyclopedia that was promoted as a “massive improvement” over Wikipedia.
