Elon University golf teams secure early leads in invitational tournaments

Elon University golf teams have seen significant early success in recent invitational tournaments.

In women's golf, the Elon Phoenix took the lead after 36 holes at the Elon Women's Invitational at Alamance Country Club. The team holds an 11-shot advantage over Wofford and Howard with a total score of 571. Lilli Downer leads the team individually in second place at 2-under-par 140, following a collegiate-low 18-hole score of 3-under 68 in the second round.

In men's golf, sophomore Drew Yeagley led the Elon men through the opening round of the JT Poston Invitational at the Waynesville Inn & Golf Club. Yeagley shot a bogey-free 6-under-par 65, placing him second individually. The Elon men's team is currently tied for seventh in the 16-team field with a score of 5-under 279, trailing leaders Virginia Tech by seven shots.
