Elorian releases Glimpse AI with significantly lower API rates than GPT-6 Astra
Elorian has released a research preview of Glimpse, a visual reasoning AI model designed to compete with larger models like GPT-6 Astra at a significantly lower cost. The company reports that its API rates are 94% lower than Astra’s, priced at $0.60 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens.
Glimpse utilizes a “visual scratch space” approach, allowing the model to revisit visual evidence, inspect specific image areas, analyze video at dense frame rates, and execute code to compare details. This differs from models that primarily analyze images before generating text-based conclusions.
In benchmark comparisons, Glimpse showed mixed results against GPT-6 Astra. It outperformed Astra in four categories: CharXiv-R for chart reasoning, UGC-VideoCap for short-form video captioning, FSC-147 for open-vocabulary counting, and WGO Bench for end-to-end manipulation. However, Astra scored higher in five other tests, including HSS, DREAM-1K, TOMATO, Video-MME v2, and CountQA. Both models tied on ERQA for embodied spatial reasoning.
Elorian, led by CEO Andrew Dai, a former Google DeepMind researcher, has previously raised $55 million with a $300 million valuation, supported by investors including Nvidia and Google’s chief scientist Jeff Dean.
