Elpidio Reyna sentenced to three years for assaulting federal officers

Elpidio Reyna has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for assaulting federal officers during anti-ICE riots in the Los Angeles area. The incident occurred in June near a Home Depot in Paramount, where Reyna was captured on video hurling large chunks of concrete at government vehicles.

One of the rocks thrown by Reyna broke through a vehicle window and caused a bodily injury to a federal officer's forehead. Following the attack, Reyna fled to Mexico, where he was eventually apprehended by Mexican authorities before surrendering to the FBI. He had previously been placed on the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list.

Reyna pleaded guilty in February to one felony count of assault on a federal officer using a deadly or dangerous weapon resulting in bodily injury. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli stated that the sentence serves as a consequence for those who attempt to assault law enforcement during protests.
